(I)Calling card effect: The 39th ISO conference brought extensive repercussions among the international community. ISO leaders fully affirmed China's outcome achieved in standardization. One of the legacies of the conference to China is that China can give further play to the influence of its standardization progress in the world, and Qingdao has shown the determination to contribute to the world’s standardization progress.

(II) Supportive role: Objectives of the forum include setting up the Qingdao International Standardization Training Base to attract standardization training and professional education from the world, undertaking international standardization forums and setting up the China Standardization Training Base in Qingdao, engaging international standardization experts and establishing relationships with international standardization committees to form a solid base for extensive international exchange as well as building Qingdao into an international standardization center where high-end international standardization talents are cultivated and gathered and the Standardization+ Program is proactively promoted to enable China’s standardization to go abroad.

(III) The role of a bridge: The forum can attract the world’s attention and build a high-end professional platform for dialogue between the government and enterprises and other stakeholders to discuss issues in fields of economy, society and environment. The forum can create opportunities for cooperating with international, regional and national standardization organizations to deepen the integration of domestic and foreign standardization progresses, attract talents for China’s standardization progress and promote interconnection around the world.

(IV) Practice function: Through the forum, more international standards will be introduced to Chinese users to promote the localization of international standards and provide more Chinese users the opportunity to take part in the formulation and application of international standards. It will transform more local standards (of Qingdao City or Shandong Province) into internationally accepted standards and ensure the value realization of standards and joint development of mankind.
